Piazza Del Dotto

Our first wine tasting will be held at Piazza Del Dotto. Located in the heart of Oakville, Piazza Del Dotto is the newest property for the Del Dotto family. Piazza Del Dotto begins with an Italian-inspired "barchessa," or barn, surrounded by 8.5 acres of cabernet sauvignon, vegetable gardens, 17th century fountains and an outdoor barn with turkeys, peacocks, pheasants and doves. Another focal point of the property are the marble lined caves which are home to some of Del Dotto's most decadent barrels. Taste the difference between wines produced in oak barrels from the great forests of the world!

Visit Yountville

Did you know Yountville, located in the Napa Valley area, is home to the largest veteran population in the United States? Nearly one-third of the towns population resides at the California Veteran's Home, which is the largest facility of its kind in the U.S. and home of almost 800 aged and disabled veterans who served as far back as World War II.

Between our tasting at Piazza Del Dotto and our dinner at Davis Estates, enjoy some free time in the beautiful town of Yountville. Home of two Michelin-starred restaurants, plenty of delicious confectioners, boutiques and shoppes.

Davis Estates

Our final stop of the day will be at Davis Estates Winery is located in Calistoga - the northern-most region of the valley. Here we will enjoy a tasting followed by a delicious dinner to cap the day while taking in the breathtaking views of the property. The main tasting house boasts a beautiful terrace and is located next to their restored 1916 barn and sits atop the caves and the members-only Cellurium.

We highly recommend checking out the Davis Estates Instagram and Facebook to see the winery and all its beauty!

Palmaz Vineyards

Saturday's first stop will land us at Palmaz Vineyards for a tasting and tour of their wonderfully engineered property. The Palmaz Vineyards winery is built into an 18-story cavern in the flank of Mount George, providing it with not only all the benefits of gravity-flow winemaking but also the natural temperature control of a cave. By eliminating mechanical pumps from the winemaking process, gravity-flow design minimizes the turbulence that damages wines' molecular structure. At the heart of the winery sits the fermentation dome, lined with 24 fermentation tanks that can accommodate grapes from individual vineyards across the estate. The sophisticated monitoring systems for each tank allow winery team members to project a broad range of data (including thermal imaging) onto the ceiling of the dome.

Promontory

The final stop on the Vino For Vets experience will take us to Oakville, where the Promontory sits on the mountainside providing astonishing views of the valley below. One of the Harlan family properties, Promontory is not easily stumbled upon. Once the gates open, the building emerges and when you step into the breezeway, you find serenity and the delicious taste of promontory wine.

The final night will consist of a wine tasting, dinner, entertainment and "fireside chat" hosted by David Letterman. We will also have a silent auction during the event!

WHAT TO PACK

The weather in Northern California during the fall months can be unpredictable. However, we anticipate cooler temperatures. Due to the nature of the event, there will be a good amount of walking and standing on various terrains including dirt and gravel, so we recommend comfortable shoes (discourage stilettos).

For the welcome reception, we suggest a business casual attire. On Friday we will not be returning to the hotel between visits, we recommend casual attire for this day and for our tasting Saturday late morning. For Saturday evening's dinner, we are requesting cocktail attire.
